Frequently Asked Questions
Motor finance mis-selling generally refers to situations where, for example, a lender or broker failed to properly disclose commission arrangements, or where the cost of finance was higher than it needed to be because of undisclosed incentives. The proposed Motor Finance Redress Scheme is expected to focus on unfair, undisclosed commission arrangements in particular.
In broad terms, individuals who took out qualifying motor finance agreements (such as PCP or hire purchase) during the relevant period set out in the redress scheme rules may be able to claim. The exact eligibility criteria will depend on the final rules of the scheme once published.
